Couples Therapy

SCHEDULE A CALL

Mutual understanding is essential for a viable relationship

Working with couples is one of the most fulfilling things for me, because my overall mission is to heal the relationship between men and women.  I feel very passionately about this.

There is still a lot of work that men and women need to understand each other and build healthy, happy relationships, and the high divorce rate reflects that lack of understanding.

Despite what some people believe, I don’t think that marriage or monogamy is becoming obsolete.  It’s just that most people have not learned the skills to be in happy, successful romantic relationships – and I can help.

We first learn about relationships in childhood.

My passion for supporting couples was born out of my own journey. After my divorce, I realized - with much humility - that I didn’t know how to be in a healthy relationship. I had a lot of shame around that at first.

However, through receiving support, I could trace everything back to my childhood (of course!)

Not only did my parents have a troubled relationship, but my father was abusive, which damaged my trust in men.

Once I healed these wounds and put healthy relationship skills into practice, my life completely transformed, and I experienced profound love and connection that I now help clients build in their own lives.

Here's an example of how I help couples.

Mary and Greg (names changed) came to me for support when Mary became pregnant with their first child. They knew they wanted to work on better communication, especially navigating conflict in a healthy way.

Knowing they wanted to model healthy relationship skills for their future child, they became motivated to improve the quality of their connection, understanding the importance of this beyond themselves.

It was a joy to teach them the skills of open-hearted communication and see them live in on a daily basis. I helped them learn to express themselves openly without blaming or shaming the other person and showed them how to develop more compassionate listening skills. These skills helped neutralize conflicts in the relationship and gave them the confidence to get through whatever challenges arose.

Additionally, we worked on building a balance of togetherness and personal space in the relationship to protect against emerging codependent patterns.

Mary and Greg have a happily balanced new parenthood with a healthy, thriving relationship. They are prioritizing themselves and continuing to nurture their bond, knowing it is a great gift to their child.

Let's address issues before they become overwhelming.

One thing that I am passionate about is helping to shift the stigma around couples therapy collectively. Unfortunately, most couples seek therapy too late, waiting until things have gotten so bad that it can be too far gone to save the relationship.

I don’t want this to happen to you. The truth is that almost every couple can benefit from support right from the start.  Receiving this support takes the weight off of the relationship by bringing in insight from a third, neutral person to provide clarity, support, and direction.

I believe that the new paradigm of relationships will include the normalization of couples therapy and relationship coaching, starting proactively from day one to set yourself up for success over the long term.

Imagine the next chapter of your partnership.

Many couples want to establish healthy, open communication, create a shared vision for the relationship, and navigate conflict in an easier way.

Developing more connection, spark, and intimacy is also essential to any lasting relationship.  Here, I will teach you about how masculine/feminine polarity helps establish more intimacy and sexual attraction.

Couples therapy helps to develop conscious relationship skills, one of the keys to success in long-term, happy relationships.

I also help teach couples the skills to protect against co-dependency.
